BACKGROUND
The Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly in 2014 prepared a 4-year Municipal Medium Term Development Plan (DMTDP) in line with the Ghana Shared Growth and Development Agenda II (GSGDA II) Policy Framework. This section covers the performance of the Municipality in the implementation of the 2014-2017 DMTDP.

WELCOME TO ATWIMA NWABIAGYA (OUR PROFILE)
The Municipal Assembly is the highest political authority in the Municipality. The Assembly has 8 Sub-Committees working up to an Executive Committee; these are: Social Services, Technical Infrastructure (Works), Finance and Administration, Development Planning, Environmental and Disaster, Agriculture, Justice and Security, Micro and Small Scale Enterprises.
These Sub-Committees carryout their various functions and report to the Executive Committee, which is chaired by the Municipality Chief Executive. Reports of the Executive Committee are submitted to the General Assembly for deliberations and ratification.
LOCATION AND SIZE OF THE MUNICIPALITY
The Municipal Assembly lies approximately between latitude 6o 32’N and 6o 75’N, and between longitude 1o 36’ and 2o 00’ West. It is situated in the Western part of the Ashanti Region and shares common boundaries with Ahafo Ano South and Atwima Mponua Municipalitys (to the West), Atwima Nwabiagya North District (to the North), Amansie–West and Atwima Kwanwoma District (to the South), Kumasi Metropolis (to the East). It covers an estimated area of 294.84 sq km. The Municipal capital is Nkawie. Figure 1 shows the Municipality map and the neighboring Municipalitys.
